Program Requirements

To get into the Computer Support Specialist AAS or Network and System Administration program, you must complete the following, in addition to Kirkwood's steps to become a student:

• Apply to Kirkwood
• Meet writing requirements

Writing (must meet one of the following) 

• Complete an ENG-105 Composition I course in high school or at an accredited college/university.
• ACT score of 18 or greater, Next-Gen Accuplacer test score between 254 and 279, High School GPA equal to or greater than 2.8. *ACT must be completed within three years of registration date, and High School GPA is valid if graduation is within ten years.
• Complete Level-5 English Language Acquisition courses.

These admission policies and procedures can change at any time. If you do not meet the placement requirements, you’ll be considered non-cohort (in the pre-Computer Support Specialist or pre-Network System Administration program) and unable to take technical classes. You’ll need to complete any developmental writing courses to prepare you for ENG-105 Composition I and any needed developmental reading courses. Once you’ve met the conditions, you’ll be moved into the program and can enroll in technical classes the following fall semester.
